Currently: As technologie transfer manager of tecnet equity, Gerhard Stelzer is responsible for the patent and technology utilization of Lower Austrian R&D companies. In addition his assignments enclose the areas: Technical and economic assessment, prior and state of the art - identification, patent analysis and patent investigation and the support of well-chosen inventions from scratch up to the transfer to potential economic and industrial partners inside Austria and worldwide.

Career: Gerhard Stelzer was immediately employed after his study with a Lower Austria startup company where he was responsible for the development of infrared light telecommunications equipment.
One year later he joint austriamicrosystems ltd. in Unterpremstätten (Styria). His responsibilities started with design and development of customised solid-state mixed signal integrated circuits in analog and digital technology on the main focus telecommunications and sensor technology. Furthermore he was project manager in the field of magnetic field sensitive sensor technologies. With his work, he supported the development of new standard products with highly sophisticated angular and rotation sensors at austriamicrosystems. For another two years Gerhard Stelzer supported the sales team as marketing manager for the sensor area in this company.
In 2003 Mr. Stelzer left austriamicrosystems and started his own start-up enterprise "Patent-Initiative". This represents a technical engineering office for intellectual property management. Stelzer’s tasks have been consultancy services, assistance and technical support around patents, trade marks and designs for registration and market introduction support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Mr. Stelzer is active as a consultant for European Community funded R&D projects and gives lectures about patent knowledge management in the advanced technical colleges Technikum Vienna and Campus02 Graz.

Education: Gerhard Stelzer has finished his certificate study for electrical engineering at the University of Technology Graz. The Study branch was electronics and communications engineering. Besides he complemented his knowledge at the Music University of Graz with the education in the Audio and Sound Engineering. During his studies Mr. Stelzer was active as a tutor. He complemented his knowledge by a large number of seminars all around solid-state technology, software (programming and applications) and computer engineering. On account of the intensive search activity of the last years, Mr. Stelzer has deep knowledge in the subject main focuses electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, sensor technology, mechatronics, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and the international patent situation.
